Military Police and Society
Abstract
The Military Police of Pará (PMPA) is one of the agencies of the State Public Security System, and is the only one that carries out overt policing to preserve public order, in addition to being an auxiliary and reserve force of the Brazilian Army, and is present in all 144 (one hundred and forty-four) municipalities in the region, ensuring the exercise of the right to security for all citizens of Pará.
The structure of the Corporation was defined by Complementary Law No. 053, of February 7, 2006, which provides for the basic organization and determines the number of personnel of the Military Police of Pará to obtain maximum effectiveness in police actions, aiming at achieving efficiency and efficacy in the provision of services to society. It is organized into 03 (three) levels of management, namely: Management Agencies (general, intermediate and sectoral), Support Agencies and Execution Agencies.
