Abstract

The state of Pará is the second largest in Brazil in terms of territorial size, with 1,245,759.31 km², according to the census conducted by IBGE (2019). It is a continental size with a unique geographic, social, cultural and political complexity in the country. A state composed of 144 municipalities distributed across 12 Integration Regions, which concentrates a large part of the biodiversity of the Legal Amazon, occupying 23.87% of this biome.

In the PMPA structure, the agency responsible for planning these multi-directional efforts is the General Department of Operations (DGO), through its Intermediate Operational Commands (COInts), strategically installed throughout the state territory.

In this context, to address all these variables, the Military Police of Pará needs to act broadly, spreading its efforts with the objective of providing a quality Public Security service to its 8,636,113 inhabitants.

The COInts are responsible for supervising, coordinating, controlling, monitoring and executing the activities of the ostensive police and preservation of public order, of an ordinary and extraordinary nature, within the scope of their respective responsibilities and jurisdictions. There are currently 19 (nineteen) COInts installed in the PMPA.
