General Department of Education and Culture

Abstract

The General Department of Education and Culture (DGEC) was created on January 13, 2020, with the enactment of Law No. 8,971, replacing the then Directorate of Education and Instruction (DEI).

The DGEC is the general management body responsible for the management and control of the police-military education system and sports activities, related to the education, qualification, improvement, specialization and training of Officers and Enlisted Men, as well as the promotion of culture, and is made up of its leadership, 2 sections and 6 subsections. The Education Section is composed of the Initial Training Subsection, the Training, Instruction, Specialization and Postgraduate Subsection, and the Teacher Registration and Selection Subsection. The Physical Education, Research, Evaluation and Military Police Colleges Section is made up of the Physical Education and Sports Subsection, the Research, Extension, Educational Technologies and Results Evaluation Subsection, the Military Police Colleges Coordination Subsection, and the Secretariat.
