Critical Mass
Abstract
The large number of academic works produced by military police officers from Pará, especially in the last two decades, demonstrates the efforts of the force and its members to seek professional development.
However, little use is made of this set of analyses within the police organization; it is believed that this is mainly due to the studies being deposited in academic repositories, and generally receiving little or no dissemination.
In response, the High Command devised the idea of periodically publishing a space suitable for gathering scientific works related to pressing issues of public security in the state and, in particular, of the Military Police of Pará.
The Scientific Journal of the PMPA thus takes on the challenge of mobilizing the scientific knowledge produced on the police and policing in democratic societies to stimulate fruitful reflections and, with this, the improvement of the conduct and intellectual autonomy of public security professionals.
