PMPA EM REVISTA Scientific Journal
Vol. 2 No. 3 (2023)This third edition of the Scientific Journal of the Military Police of Pará is presented with great satisfaction due to the “threads and traces” of History. An important theme for institutions that deal with the construction of identity, defense of the military ethos and democracy as a daily practice in this 21st century. Narrating the History of the Military Police Institution with a two-hundred-year tradition in our State involves challenges that are related to the very method of constructing the analysis and historical narrative. These go beyond “a mere study of the past”, because History is a relationship between the “past and the present” and vice-versa, “a daughter of its time”, told through visions that show the experiences of the subjects, micro History, gender, power relations, mentalities, class struggle and people’s memories.

PMPA EM REVISTA Scientific Journal
Vol. 1 No. 2 (2022)For three consecutive years, the Government of Pará has achieved consistent results in offering security to the population of Pará. The current administration managed to take Pará, in 2022, from the ranking of the most violent states in Brazil to the top among those that reduced crime the most. The reduction in crime in general seems to be associated with the significant increase in visible policing in public spaces. Pará municipalities that in the recent past were among the most violent in Brazil are now better policed.

PMPA EM REVISTA Scientific Journal
Vol. 1 No. 1 (2022)The large number of academic papers produced by military police officers from Pará, especially in the last two decades, demonstrates the efforts of the force and its members to seek professional development. However, little use is made of this set of analyses within the police organization; it is believed that this is mainly due to the studies being deposited in academic repositories and generally receiving little or no dissemination. In response, the High Command devised the idea of periodically publishing a space suitable for gathering scientific papers related to pressing issues of public security in the state and, in particular, of the Military Police of Pará.
