About the Journal
FOCUS AND SCOPE
The scientific journal is open primarily to the military police and public security community of the State of Pará, and is extended to other sectors of society, provided that it meets the scientific objectives of the corporation. It is intended for the publication on the internet of articles that may contribute to academic training and development, in addition to updating knowledge in different areas of knowledge related to police activity.
The journal seeks to accept articles that engage in an interdisciplinary dialogue with police sciences, selecting scientific research that collaborates with the promotion of good practices in the PMPA, as well as in other police or security agencies, national or foreign, originating from these agencies or from higher education institutions and civil society, provided that they are relevant to the field of public security.
HISTORY
Based on the strategic objective of "improving the training, qualification and development of military police officers", as set out in the Strategic Plan of the Military Police of Pará 2015/2025, as well as the permanent institutional concern to monitor the academic and professional development of military police officers, the Research Center of the General Staff was created by Ordinance No. 137/2020 - Command Office, published in General Bulletin No. 151, dated August 18, 2020.
The Scientific Journal PMPA em Revista was established by Ordinance No. 139/2021 - Command Office, published in General Bulletin No. 102, dated May 28, 2021, becoming an essential instrument for the dissemination of professional knowledge, with a scientific basis, on military police activity.
The scientific journal originated in the Research Center of the General Staff of the Military Police of Pará, aiming to promote good practices within the PMPA, and in police agencies, higher education institutions and civil society, especially in the field of public safety and Police Sciences.
Through Complementary Law No. 153, of July 1, 2022, the 8th Section of the General Staff - Scientific Research (PM/8) was created, making the Research Center linked to this section of the EMG, whose purpose became the general coordination of programs, projects, processes and scientific research activities carried out within the PMPA, or autonomously by military police officers, in areas of knowledge of interest to the institution, resulting in the obtaining of reliable data and analyses to assist the General Staff in the strategic planning of the corporation.
MISSION
To encourage the construction of an institutional identity focused on the production of professional knowledge based on science, within the scope of the PMPA;
Provide an appropriate institutional environment focused on the selection of scientific works with quality content related to public safety, especially the PMPA;
Coordinate the dissemination of scientific works produced, in print and digital media, facilitating the dissemination and sharing of knowledge produced;
Build a critical and qualified mass capable of producing knowledge that enables a positive return on PMPA's actions with repercussions for Pará society.
VISION FOR THE FUTURE
To be recognized as a scientific journal of excellence in the production of professional knowledge based on science, in the area of Police Sciences and related areas, and to become a reference in the dissemination of information, enabling easy and comprehensive access to the content produced, in print and digital media.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS
The publication of papers is subject to the opinions of members of the Scientific Editorial Board and invited collaborators, ensuring the anonymity of authors and ad hoc consultants in the double-blind peer review process. The evaluation must be carried out by at least two collaborators, with no access to the authors of the respective papers, thus ensuring impartiality on the part of the evaluator and contributing to the evaluation being carried out using quality criteria recognized by the academic community.
Any suggestions for modifications to the structure or content, by the editorial board, will be previously agreed with the authors. No additions or modifications will be accepted after the texts have been submitted for composition.
PERIODICITY
Currently, the Scientific Journal PMPA em Revista is published biannually.
FEES FOR SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION OF TEXTS (APC)
The Scientific Journal PMPA em Revista does not charge submission fees, nor does it charge fees for editing and publishing articles.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
The Scientific Journal PMPA em Revista offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater worldwide democratization of knowledge.
PLAGIARISM-FREE POLICY
Upon submission to the Scientific Journal PMPA em Revista, all articles undergo anti-plagiarism software to detect plagiarism before being forwarded to the reviewers. Works that contain signs of plagiarism or self-plagiarism will be promptly rejected and archived.
COPYRIGHT POLICY
Upon submitting an article to “PMPA em Revista”, the author grants the corresponding copyright to the Scientific Journal PMPA em Revista. Works published in the Scientific Journal PMPA em Revista, which uses the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, become the property of the journal. Any new publication of the same text, whether initiated by its author or third parties, is subject to prior authorization and express mention of the precedence of its publication in this journal, citing the edition and date of this publication.

The Scientific Journal PMPA EM REVISTA digitally preserves the issues it publishes.
PUBLICATION ETHICS OF THE JOURNAL
It is the responsibility of the authors, reviewers and editors involved in the editorial process of the Scientific Journal PMPA EM REVISTA to preserve ethics.
It is up to the authors to: present studies, through articles, reviews and experience reports, with statements that are not fraudulent or plagiarized. Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and authorial, and that citations of works by other peers are adequately presented. The author responsible for the submission must ensure that there is full acceptance by all co-authors regarding the final version of the article and its submission for publication. Authors must inform in the articles and experience reports the ethical concerns of the research and whether they were submitted to ethics committees.
It is the Editors' responsibility to: evaluate articles exclusively based on their academic merit, as well as to take the necessary and responsive measures in the event of complaints regarding a submitted or published article.
It is the Reviewers' responsibility to: treat each article received as a confidential document, keeping the information obtained from the articles confidential. Evaluate objectively and the observations and comments made must be made with well-founded arguments, so that the authors can use them to improve their articles. If the reviewer feels unqualified or unable to perform an evaluation, he/she must promptly notify the editor, and if he/she has any conflict of interest of a personal or ideological nature, he/she must not accept the article for evaluation.
