The education of inmates and former inmates of the prison system: a proposal for resocialization through the UERR.

Abstract

The importance of promoting effective alternatives for the reintegration of offenders and minimizing the emergence of new offenders are topics that are constantly on the agenda of the national media. However, discussions on this topic often do not generate concrete actions that improve the current conditions of inmates and former inmates of the prison system. Furthermore, there is a lack of studies and research on the constitutional and infra-constitutional lines that address the subject. In this sense, we will address the issue of providing educational assistance, through distance learning, to inmates and former inmates of prison units, aiming at their respective reintegration into the job market, as measures capable of contributing to the reduction of criminal recidivism rates, the promotion of human rights and, consequently, to the materialization of real improvements in the much-needed public safety.
